According to recent research from Constant Contact, Inc, Canadian consumers rate email as their number one method for staying in touch with businesses. 68% person prefer email compared to just 12% who prefer other means of contact. The telephone coming in at 12%, Snail Mail at 8%, personal conversations 7%, and social media only 5%.
The research shows that only 63% of all Canadian small businesses use email to stay in touch with their customers. And of those 61% are using email providers such as Gmail and Outlook rather than a traditional email marketing platform.
It should be pointed out that those mailbox providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc) offer no way to maintain the CASL (Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation) compliance. Nor do they maximize the business’s marketing efforts through mobile-responsive email templates, growth tools, and of course open rates / tracking.
Get with it Canadian small businesses! The numbers don’t lie.
