Nothing about starting an online business is exactly “easy.” It may be simple as hell but we all know that’s not the same thing as easy.
Want to make money as an affiliate?
No problem. Just set up a landing page promoting a high converting product(s) and promote it with targeted traffic. BAM! You’re making bank, right?
Wait… is there some anxiety in your reply? Is there a sense of uncertainty?
It’s that exact response that causes so many would be affiliates to stop before they ever begin. It’s happened to me. It’s happened to some of the best. The only difference is the best decide to deal with it and move forward anyway. This is the fundamental challenge of an entrepreneur.
Jonathan Fields authored a book called Uncertainty Turning Fear and Doubt into Fuel for Brilliance. And as you might imagine he tackles that challenge through a blend of advice, story, and research.
A friend of mine mentioned reading and liking this book so I decided to give it a try. The title was a bit of a turnoff as I pictured a lot of “rah rah” metaphysical stuff. There was a hint of that, I’ll be honest. The truth is though it’s a good read for anyone looking to improve themselves.
Here’s a quote from the book that hit home for me. It’s on the topic of finding your “certainty anchor.” See that sounds a bit hokey – but look past that for a second.
Over time, ritual has a funny side-effect. It creates momentum. It becomes a habit that builds its own head of steam, one capable of overriding the call of Twitter, Facebook, Green & Black’s 85% chocolate and whether the rumors about Apple’s next product are true.
I couldn’t agree more. Whenever I find myself in uber productive (usually profitable) routines the world around me shuts down and nothing else matters but this stream of creativity.
There’s a lot more to this book. It’s full of inspiring stories and positive habit building exercises. The goal? To show you exactly how meaningless fear is and exactly how to overcome it.
If you’ve ever found yourself backed into a corner, if you’ve ever felt like you were doing a million things and accomplishing nothing, If you’ve ever felt like you weren’t where you wanted to be in life, if you’ve ever wanted to rise above your circumstances this is a great read.
